Wooden File Cabinet

This was my crash course in woodworking. I followed plans from Rockler and built this for my sister just in time for Christmas.

I don’t have anything specific to say about the project, just that I made a lot of beginner mistakes. Coming from a metal/machining mindset, I found working with wood to be a challenge. Precision is still required, but you can’t just dial it in. You really have to get a feel for the wood’s properties and how it reacts to being cut in different ways. Also, if you make a mistake, you can’t just weld on more wood and grind it down. If that’s not enough, wood does crazy stuff like changes shape and dimension with the weather.
